Workcamp 09

I was"nt sure at the begining if I would love this small village. When I came to Oekospeicher everyone was really friendly and helpful. I had got the chance to know a lot of people from different cultures. From Czech Republic, Ukraine, Canada, Korea, Germany and my country Turkey. Actually I met a new Turkish friend here. Together we had a lot of fun with Orcan. We danced, sang . drank. Everything was beatiful. And I met with Miryam from Germany. It was the gratest 3 weeks of my life.Talking with her, walking, drinking, everything was like a dream. And people say that I was a "shlemir" for her. I dont know that word spelling but I hope you ll undrerstand me. And i want to thank everybody. Filip, Fred, Jin , M9, Jan, Orcan, the Tanjas, Sarah, Frank, Sophie, Mary, Loreen, and the names that I dont know or forget. And I must thank to ones whom we helped. Mane, Mani, Martin, Morritz, Norbert and our mother Hanne. So now I ll write some words or lyrics. These are related to people I think. At least for me I ll remember them with these memories.

Orcan: Beat it
Filip: Ok. Come on. What. Ye? no? ye? no? ye? no? Concrete. Schubkarre
Fred: O lala. It is so cute.
Jin : Arirang.(That was a great song.) Sure sure. Ok. Lets keep workin.
Sarah: Get in my brain.
Jan: I light all my ........ cigarette.
Frank: Ok now.
The Tanyas: Good morning
M9: Slowly.
Miryam: Idiot.
I ll miss you.

It's the 29th of July, which means that half of the workcamp-time is already over again. =( The last two weeks have been awsome and the participants are simply great - all of them. They come from Ukraine, Turkey, Czech Republic, South Korea, Canada, Mexico and Germany. Therefore the diversity of culture, mentality and language is in comparison to some former workcamps pretty balanced, which is a great plus, since we are forced to improve our english. Not to forget about the food!!!! Every day there's something new from algae to enchilada and we are all going to roll back home, but that's worth it. I'm looking forward to the last week, when the preparation for the folk-festival is done and there is nothing to but spend our free time and of course a little work ;)

Trip to Berlin PDF Drucken E-Mail
Sonntag, 26. Juli 2009 um 00:00 Uhr

Saturday, 25th July we got up early as usual. But we didn't got to work, we did something more interesting. At 9 o'clock we left the station "Frankfurt (Oder)-Rosengarten" and gone to Berlin by train.

We got out of the train and started our walk to the "Alexanderplatz" with Sophie and Marie and met Loreen. Loreen, Frank's girlfriend lives in Berlin and so she lead us together with Frank while our walk around. At first we went on the TV-tower and had a fantastic look at the areas of Berlin and some famous buildings. It took some time to take a look over the city and read what is written about it. While waiting for the rest of the group, some bought a coffee from "Starbucks" or a "Döner".

We walked to the place, where the statues of Marx and Engels, two of the fathers of the kommunism idea, stand. We made some funny fotos in front of it. Fred and Tanya were sitting on the legs of the sitting statue and after we all stood in front of the statues.

Das Workcamp steht in der MOZ! The local newspaper Märkische Oderzeitung published a brief story about the Wulkow workcamp. Hier der Link! Ein kleiner Fehler ist dabei: Sarah macht nicht das Freiwillige Ökologische Jahr in Wulkow, sondern nur Frank.

Bowling PDF Drucken E-Mail
Dienstag, 21.

Breakfast with Wulkow people PDF Drucken E-Mail

Sunday, 19th July, there was a big breakfast with the people from the village. We introduced ourselves and it was translated into German because the people wanted to understand what we are talking. We got to know the sisters Marie und Sophie, who are living next to the village Wulkow. With them we started playing some games we played the day before. Later we involved Leyla, the grand-daughter of Hanne (Hanne named herself as our mother). We had a briefing with Thomas Straub, too. He is the one, who helps us to present something at the Folk-Festival. He asked about what we want to do and told us what we could do.

Getting to know each other PDF Drucken E-Mail
Sonntag, 19. Juli 2009 um 00:00 Uhr

Saturday, 18th July, we continued getting to know each other. We made some games to become more and more a team. And it worked, better than we expected. The other members of the team involved themselves by presenting own games from their countries. We tried every game and it was fun. Not everything was really easy to explain but "anyway it fits" was what we thought. The whole day we were talking, playing, laughing and having fun.
